2 POSITIONS AS DOCTORAL RESEARCH FELLOWSHIPS (SKO/post code 1017) within the project “Translation
and Reception of Literature and Film from/into Hispanic Contexts” (supervised
by Cecilia Alvstad and Jeroen Vandaele)
are available at the Department of
Literature, Area Studies and European Languages.

Literature”, supervised by Dr. Cecilia Alvstad.
1 doctoral
fellowship for the subproject “Translation and Reception of Foreign Repertoires
in Franco’s Spain”,
supervised by Dr. Jeroen Vandaele.
As part of the application
candidates are asked to define a project (max. 5 pages) in relation to one (or
both) of the subprojects. Students holding a MA degree in Spanish are
encouraged to apply but MA students from other relevant disciplines will also
be taken into consideration. In Alvstad’s project the main emphasis is on
translation and reception of Latin American literature in Norway
but doctoral candidates can also work with other, preferably Scandinavian,
target cultures. Preferred target languages are Norwegian, Danish or Swedish.
Source languages: Spanish and/or Portuguese. Vandaele’s preferred source
languages are French, English and Dutch. For further details, contact the

All four – fellows and supervisors – will work
in close collaboration. The fellows are full members of the Faculty of
Humanities and will be stimulated to participate in international doctoral
schools and conferences.
Candidates who
are accepted must participate in the Faculty of Humanities’ researcher
education programme (cf. regulations and supplementary provisions for the
faculty’s researcher education) and must also engage in the designated research
activities on a 100 percent basis. The designated aim of the project is to
complete a doctoral dissertation to be defended at a public disputation for the
Ph.D.-degree.
Requirements:
· A 5 year Master
degree, or equivalent, in an area relevant to the topic of the doctoral dissertation.
The positions
are available for a period of three years. The positions must be taken up by 1. October 2009
The successful candidates are expected to affiliate
with the existing research milieu or network and to contribute to the further
development of this.
In assessing
the applications, special emphasis will be placed on the quality of the project
description and on the assumed academic and personal ability on the part of the
candidates to complete the dissertation within the given time frame. The
short-listed candidates may be called for an interview at the University
of Oslo.
